Niaron Ltd. are a multi-disciplinary civil engineering and utilities contractor operating nationwide in the public and private sector with offices located in Limerick and Ashbourne, Co. Meath. We have several long-standing clients providing repeat business and we have experienced significant growth in the past 5 years, we are looking to appoint a Construction Manager role in the Greater Dublin Region. This is a fantastic opportunity for an already established Construction Manager or an Engineer seeking to advance forward in their career and join an exceptional business. 


The Role 

The PICW Level E role reporting to the Contracts Manager will be based out of either or our Limerick Depot or Ashbourne Depot and will be responsible for supervision of substation projects in their respective region. The PICW Level E will be responsible for supervision of construction of new substations, refurbishment of existing substations including trench, ducting and cabling works and will be responsible for safe delivery of all operations.


As a PICW Level E you are required to have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all construction and service operations including an exceptional knowledge of overhead and underground electrical networks, this should underpin an understanding of the requirements and needs of our extremely successful business unit. The role will involve an initial assessment of projects, assisting our tendering and commercial department with cost plans along with planning and supervising the works once authorisation to proceed is received.


The duties of the PICW Level E include:

  • Ensuring compliance with the safety, health and environment requirements for every substation and service project awarded in your respective region.
  • Initial survey of allocated jobs to determine safety, resource, traffic management and supervision arrangements required.
  • Arrange for all materials required on project drawings and specifications to be delivered to the site location as and when required.
  • Assist in the procurement and appointment of any subcontractors where required to complete the projects.
  • Ensure the sustainability procurement policy of the business is adhered to at all times.
  • Agree delivery times to meet the project or framework timelines.
  • Keeping detailed records and maintaining well-organised work schedules.
  • Assessing the reliability of sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Dealing effectively with challenges within site crews and operational teams
  • Providing instruction to site crews and upward liaison with the Contracts Manager.
  • Liaising closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure site activities are delivered to schedule.
  • Negotiating and agreeing the most favourable construction sequence.


Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications 

  • Excellent knowledge of safety, quality and team leadership.
  • Previous experience acting as PSCS Representative.
  • Demonstrated general management skills.
  • Exceptional knowledge of the electrical network including HV, MV and LV.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to train and mentor new members to the team.
  • An excellent understanding of the civil engineering and utility sectors.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a civils construction crew team leader on construction projects.
  • Accumulated a minimum of 2 year’s experience over the previous 5 years in Live AIS substations or have worked in a live AIS substation for the last 6 months. 



Required:

  • Safepass
  • IOSH/ CIF Managing Safety in Construction (MSIC) or equivalent
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, CPE or equivalent)
  • Manual Handling
  • Full Clean Driving licence


Additional training required but not essential:

  • CSCS Sign, Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks
  • CSCS Location of Underground Services
  • First Aid
